Compact Tractor Review

A compact tractor can be a real back saver, and at the same time a pain in the wallet.
The one thing to know about a compact tractor is how are you planning to use it. Will this compact tractor be used every day like a contractor would use their equipment?
Most likely the tractor will be used to mow the large yard, brush hog the field, haul logs for fire wood, clear small trails through the woods, drill holes for fencing, snow removal either with the front bucket or snow blower.

The front end loader is a must if you are looking for a compact tractor. There is always some thing that needs picked up, dug up or moved. Rocks for the rock garden, hauling your favorite landscaping material and moving snow.

When facing an option of tire tread on a compact tractor there are two, AG tires or Turftires. What’s the difference?
The AG tires are aggressive for more traction in the dirt, mud and snow. Provide great traction in all types of conditions. The only draw back is if the yard is very soft, like after the spring thaw, the tires could damage the yard. But also in the heat of the summer and the yard hardens up there should be no problems.
The Turf tires are only that, for the Turf, the yard. The traction is not there but will help not to tear up the yard. There are many different compact tractor manufactures out there and it makes it a little confusing which one is the best. The bigger named brands offer more detail, quality and service. While the imports may lack a little in these areas the savings makes up the difference.Through out this page are a few different models of a compact tractor. In the list is a 20 horse,25 and 30

Some of the issues with the tractor are leaks, bolts that loosen and a broken steering casting, parts where available. The best advise WhatPond can offer to any one looking for a compact tractor is that the NorTrac tractors are a good value for the money, compared to buying a big name brand. From the research of forums they run about 50% of like and dislike of the tractors.  From having no problems to having problems from the start. Being mechanically inclined is a plus unless you know of some one that is. As stated in the compact tractor page you should seek out dealers that are near by.
