I just built a brand new deck for my 1.5 acre pond we just reworked in Virginia. The deer keep coming on the deck and leave their scat. Why are they doing it on the deck? What can I do to prevent it other than a barrier?
Hi Michael,
That is a strange one, is it the regular pressure lumber or something different? I too put on a new deck but have not had your problem.
Like you said no barrier, but maybe an invisible one will work this is the only place I know that has deer repellent and I use for me
and the dog’s and it works. Here’s the link straight to the deer page http://www.liquidfence.com/deer-repellent.html
Give a shout back and let us know how it works.
I have small pond in New Hampshire and want to build a barn overlooking it. How close to the pond can i build? Also, how large does the body of water need to be before the town, city or state recognizes it as a pond or lake and make it subject to building setback codes?
Hi Dana,
Sounds like a picture perfect plan. How close to the pond are you thinking?
If you are building a pole barn or putting in a footer you could get pretty close, 25 feet or there about.
On the other hand building a basement I would stay away a good 100 feet, there could be potential leaks to the basement.
As for city town or state setback codes you’ll need to check with your local authorities as every state has different rules.
Hope this helps?
